Women are great for Golf

Looking for a new challenge, Want to get healthy and active, Keen to meet more friends or spend quality time with your partner – and wondering which sport fits the bill?

Golf offers all these benefits and more. It’s such an adaptable sport that it suits all players, whatever their age, fitness level or ability. So whether you want to burn lots of calories or just find a gentle way to boost your activity, golf is a sport for all with some incredible benefits.

Keeps you active

Golf can help keep you active, burn calories, stay in shape, lower cholesterol, reduce the risk of heart disease and research shows it may even help you live longer. Playing 18-holes will burn at least 900 calories and will take you more than ten thousand steps, you will easily achieve the recommended 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week recommended by the NHS to keep healthy.

Connects you with people

Golf is inherently sociable. With plenty of time for conversation and fun, golf is the perfect way to make new friends or grow closer bonds with people you already know - golf has to be the most social sport ever invented.

Helps you unwind and relax

Playing golf is a great way to boost your mental wellbeing. Outdoor exercise in a green space can boost mental health by reducing stress levels, enhancing mood and even improving your self-esteem. It’s the perfect restorative environment where you can relax, unwind and recharge your batteries.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never played golf or haven’t picked up a club since your school days or an almost‑forgotten holiday. You can get started by taking advantage of the low cost beginner courses on offer from the Get into golf campaign.

You’ll receive a basic introduction to the game from a PGA professional, together with information about club membership and follow-on coaching opportunities.

Equipment will be provided so all you have to do is turn up on the day in comfortable clothing, before you know it you will be out on the course playing golf.
