Environmental Sustainability
At Active Cumbria, we recognise the importance of taking action to protect our environment and contribute to a more sustainable future. Through our Environmental Sustainability Action Plan (ESAP), we are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our own operations and embedding sustainable practices into the way we work. The plan provides a framework for reviewing our current practices, identifying opportunities for improvement and setting clear actions to help us operate more sustainably. It also aligns with the ambitions of Sport England’s Every Move environmental strategy which requires system partners, including Active Partnerships and national governing bodies of all major recognised sports in England, to have robust sustainability action plans in place by March 2027.
We will use the ESAP to guide our internal approach to environmental sustainability, focusing on areas such as reducing waste, using resources responsibly, travelling responsibly and making more sustainable choices in our day-to-day activities. By monitoring our progress, raising awareness among our team and continually reviewing our practices, we aim to make environmental responsibility an integral part of our organisational culture.
We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey, and we are committed to learning, adapting and improving over time. By leading by example and taking practical steps to minimise our environmental footprint, we aim to ensure that our own operations reflect our commitment to creating a healthier, more sustainable Cumbria for current and future generations.
