Safeguarding
Active Cumbria's Commitment to Safeguarding
We are committed to promoting the safety and welfare of children and young people engaged in sporting activities locally.
Our policies highlight our Duty of Care that every person who is involved in sport and physical activity should be able to participate in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from abuse.
Our role is to help and support all organisations in Cumbria to create an environment where children, young people and adults at risk feel safe.
Active Cumbria is here to inspire and support everyone to deliver great sport and physical activity experiences through best practice, training, research and industry standards across sports, communities and national governing bodies.
For over 20 years we have worked with the NSPCC’s Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) to set the right standards and raise awareness among organisations and volunteers of how to recognise and respond to matters of safeguarding children.
We have also partnered with The Ann Craft Trust to offer learning on how to support and promote the welfare of adults at risk, and with the CPSU on training for welfare officers.
