Rugby League

Rugby league is a bold, dynamic and welcoming sport where players come together to compete in teams in a fun environment.

It is one of the two major codes of rugby football, the other being rugby union.

Rugby league is played in more than 30 countries, though it is most commonly played in the United Kingdom (predominantly northern England) Australia and New Zealand.

Why is it good for me?

Rugby league is great if you want to work out outside, and don’t mind getting a mid muddy! It’s a cardiovascular workout that can help to improve your speed, agility and strength.

How much does it cost?

Cost vary between clubs.

What equipment do I need?

For beginners, comfy clothes and trainers that you don’t mind getting muddy is all you need to give rugby league a go.

If you’d like to play more regularly, talk to your club or coach about the kind of kit you might need.

Getting started

Introductory ways to play include 'touch' and 'tag'. Some local clubs may offer these type of sessions. Please get in touch with the contacts on the right of this page to find out where and when.
