Barrow Active Travel Poster Competition

Cumbria County Council is inviting children and young people in Barrow-in-Furness to celebrate active travel by designing a poster in our exciting new competition.

To enter the competition, simply draw a picture about the benefits of cycling, walking or scooting to school or college.

There are four age categories:

  • Under 8yrs
  • 8yrs to 11yrs 
  • 12yrs to 16yrs
  • 17yrs and over

Prizes for the winners in each category include a £200 voucher for Topmark Cycles or Halfords.

Designs can be done in any medium that can be colour copied but not in a medium that can smudge such as some paints, chalk or charcoal.

Cllr Kevin Hamilton, Chair of Cumbria County Council’s Barrow Local Committee, said: “ By inviting children to take part in this competition, we are encouraging them to learn about environmentally friendly ways to travel and help spread the message about the many benefits of Active Travel.’

Entries should be handed in at your local library, posted to: Active Cumbria, Cumbria County Council, Nan Tait Centre, Abbey Road, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, LA14 3LG or emailed to: emma.broadbent@cumbria.gov.uk.

The closing date for entries is Wednesday 1st September.
