March 4, 2025

Worthy winners were the flavour of the night as hundreds gathered to celebrate all the best of sporting talent in Cumbria.

The Cumbria Sports Awards 2025 were held at Energus, Workington on Friday, February 28 with hundreds turning out to celebrate all the very best of sporting talent across the county.

Sponsored by Fibrus, a full fibre broadband company committed to supporting Cumbrian grassroots sports, the Cumbria Sports Awards 2025 were brought back to the county in a 'live' format for the first time in a number of years, thanks to a partnership between Newsquest Cumbria and Active Cumbria.

As well as category winners, two special awards were given out on the evening. The Big Build Project at Keswick Rugby Club was awarded the The Future Foundation Award honouring efforts that have been made to create opportunities for future generations through the community led project for a new club house.

The night was finished with Whitehaven born rugby league star Kyle Amor being given the Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of his super league career, the contribution he has made to promote the sport of rugby league in the county- and the work he did last year returning to his home town club of Whitehaven as coach at the end of the 2024 season.
