Walk Leader Raymond leads 2500 walks

Today, local walk leader - Raymond Willock led his 2500th walk, Barrow Mayor Cllr Helen Wall was there to present Raymond with some gifts from Active Cumbria.
Raymond has been a volunteer Walk Leader since February 2006, he has led walks throughout Barrow, Dalton & Ulverston, these are all part of the national 'Walking for Health' scheme ran by the Ramblers and supported by Active Cumbria.
The group walks boost people’s physical and mental health by helping them meet others, enjoy their local area and feel fitter. The walks generally last between 30 and 90 minutes and run every week.
Emma Broadbent, Cumbria County Council Community Development Officer said;
'It’s the walk leaders, helpers and other volunteers whose time and hard work make all these walks possible. 2500 walks is a fantastic achivement, thank you Raymond.'

Monday
Every Monday morning, meet at 10:30am at the Living Well Centre, Duke Street, Barrow-in-Furness.
Short walks on pavements and paths around Hindpool, Channelside and the reservoir.

Advantage! Rambling Raiders Walk
The walks will take place from Hawcoat Park Sports Club, every Friday, 9.30am until 10.30am.
The length will be around 3 miles, a 45 minute to an hour in length, of moderate intensity.
