Opening Schools Facilities Fund - Eden

School

OSF Funding used for:

Samuel King's School

Providing instructors and equipment to deliver lunchtime and after school fitness classes and sports sessions for students including spin classes, circuit training, bootcamp, rugby and archery – such activities have helped to boost activity levels for students who would not otherwise have had the opportunity to take part in such sessions. Investment in equipment and training courses needed to allow the school to collaborate with the local football club – for example portable floodlights have made the school’s 3G pitch useable all year round. Providing swimming lessons for year 7 and 8 students who did not attain the expected swim proficiency at Key Stage 2 (due to Covid 19 restrictions at the time) – worthy investment for this important life skill.

Ullswater Coummunity College

The vision for this project was to create a thriving CrossFit affiliate which reached all parts of the community with a focus on engaging girls in physical activity. The funding helped provide equipment and qualifications.

Kirkby Stephen Grammar School

Funding utilised for 3 projects.

1. Deliver a new sport ‘Kinball’ to year 7 and 8 students at lunchtimes. Kurling added to the programme in November 2024.

2. Provision for a new activity/sport to introduce to the pupils who experienced a taster session with an ex GB coach and athlete at Modern Pentathlon and wanted to experience more.

3. To introduce a new sport of Pickleball to the school extra-curriculum offer.
