Always Another Way
Always Another Way, have been funded to work with Whitehaven Harbour Youth Project (WHYP) to help support their LGBTQ young people (aged 11 to 25) to give them access to outdoor physical activities such as the high-quality climbing wall and offering a range of activities including Archery and team building activities.
Following consultation directly with the Always Another Way LBGT group they expressed an interest that they would be willing to engage in climbing and archery offered by WHYP. Having suffered through lockdown, the idea of the physical activity is to improve the young people mental and physical wellbeing as they are not sporty and don’t currently engage in any physical activity or any Sport outside of school and hate PE.
Costings:

Progress
April 2022
Weekly sessions have been taking place and attendance has slowly grown to around 10 young people regularly joining in. There has been a range of physical activities to take part in including outdoor team building which has had a positive impact on the young people’s confidence offering them a safe space to engage in physical activities they wouldn’t otherwise consider. The knock on effect on health and wellbeing is clear to see – creating that space to be able to have fun with others, share experiences and just have something different to focus on has been really positive.
