Let's Move! Cumberland
Let’s Move! in Cumberland is supported by Sport England through Place Expansion - a targeted investment programme that focuses resources on areas with the greatest need, places with high levels of inactivity, poor health outcomes, and social inequality. It builds on the success of earlier pilot projects and has scaled up the approach nationally.
Place Expansion in Cumberland is part of a £250 million commitment into 80 places across England, 53 in phase one (including Cumberland) and 27 in phase two. The funding is to support community infrastructure, coordination, and local delivery in each target area.

What Will We do?
Let’s Move! will deliver meaningful change by embedding physical activity into local systems, policies, and community infrastructure across Maryport, Workington and Whitehaven. We aim to reduce inactivity, improve health outcomes, and address inequalities through:

- Test and Learn Approaches
- System Change
- Evaluation and Learning
Let's Move! will strengthen local leadership, align priorities, and create a joined-up approach that makes physical activity a normal part of everyday life across Cumberland.
The programme will benefit from financial and capacity support through to at least March 2028.
