Active Start for Practitioners

Active Start - Helping children to be healthy, to learn, and be active for life

Active Start is our early years programme for children up to the age of 7. The programme focuses upon using physical activity and active play to support children to be healthy, to learn and be active for life.

Created to inspire and increase activity levels the programme will support you, as a practitioner, to help children within your setting develop a wide movement vocabulary to support their overall physical, cognitive, social and emotional development.

Whether you work in a nursery, school, childrens centre or as a childminder this programme is for you.

What's involved?

  • Access to a free practical training session
  • Free resources to support delivery of the activities within your own setting
  • Support for families with the opportunity to host your own course for parents delivered through the County Council's Family Learning team

Active Start Resources

Resources have been created to support delivery of the EYFS and the National Primary Curriculum through physical activity enabling children to develop a wide and varied movement vocabulary.

Courses Available

All courses are free of charge. And free resources are provided for your setting.
Early Years courses run 9.30am - 3pm
KS1 courses run 9.30am - 12.30pm
