Laurie Brewis Trust – Heathlands
Funding Received: £5460 (Phase 4: 1 April 2022 - 31 March 2023)
Project Outline: Exercise at Home (a bespoke standing aerobic exercise session) has been remarkably popular averaging 90 engagements on each live Facebook performance. However, recently the LBT have discovered that making online exercise sessions with visually spectacular interactive graphics included has made for much higher viewing figures from our demographic.
Many beneficiaries are extremely entertained by computer gaming content and therefore are more likely to be attracted to the exercise sessions if graphics of this nature are present within the sessions. It is therefore our intention to make and provide 26 weeks of exercise sessions with computer aided graphics to spark interest.
Furthermore, learning disability participants will be asked to compete in games live online so that a competitive and community feel is present within the aerobic session. Points will be awarded and a leader board set up to stimulate interest further.
The funding required will be directly spent on making the exercise content, promoting and increasing our reach.
Outcomes of this project:
- A digital interactive fitness show will be broadcast weekly for 26 weeks aimed at disability groups
- This aerobic fitness session will be presented live with an interactive workout over a green screen with animations and graphics.
- Each week we will challenge people to take part in Virtual Reality Active Challenges, which will be pre-recorded and played out during the live show.
- Leaderboards for the participants of the challenges will promote engagement.
- Broadcasted live on our Facebook page, the recordings will then be posted on our Youtube Channel and our website to make this as accessible as possible.
- Using in-house skills and technology will help to keep the cost down
- The VR active challenge section will be hosted by beneficiaries of Heathlands Cumbria to keep inline with our peer-made content ethos.
- Organise and visit similarly placed learning disability organisations to show and give free access to Heathlands at Home online platform.
