Boxing

Improve your strength, power and body awareness.

Boxing is a combat between two competitors in a ring who attempt to land punches on one another, with judges scoring points as blows are landed.

Why is it good for me?

Boxing is a great full-body workout that can help to improve heart and lung function, increase energy levels and is a social sport, with a great feeling of community.

How much does it cost?

Individual sessions usually cost around £3 to £5 and many clubs offer a subscription. Contact clubs directly to ask about fees or subscriptions.

What equipment do I need?

For beginners, comfortable clothes and a pair of trainers with good support are fine, and a sports bra for women is essential!

Gloves are usually provided at a taster session, or boxing style workout.

As you progress, you may want to invest in specialist boxing boots, a gum shield if you want to spar or compete, and bandages to help protect your hands and knuckles. Your club or trainer will be able to help advise you on this.
