How can Hockey improve the quality of your PE Curriculum?
Through the simple introductory game called Quicksticks. It is a 4 a side game, designed especially for 7-11 year olds. It can be played on any surface (indoor or out) using a larger, lighter & safer ball.
England Hockey’s offer to support Physical Education in Primary Schools is:
Accessible free online teacher courses as well as the option to access practical courses. Variety of competitive experiences and festivals. Local hockey clubs to provide exit route for young people. A dedicated website to facilitate Quicksticks activity in primary school with free resources, videos, posters and downloadable documents.
Practical training for teachers (approx 3 hr course), £100 for the tutor or free online teachers course using videos to demonstrate key teaching points and activities.
A curriculum booklet which has a 6 week scheme of work and lesson plans for each year group in Key Stage Two, linked to the national curriculum. Set of 49 challenge cards which both pupils and staff can use. Equipment can be purchased from Youth Sport Direct Free templates and resources are available at Play Quick Sticks website. Free schools membership
Inter school competition – school games formats. Intra competition - team competitions and challenge festivals. Exit Routes. Extra curriculum clubs supported by local hockey clubs and secondary schools. Local community hockey clubs provide a variety of playing opportunities.
