As the world of communication constantly changes around us, Cumberland FA are working towards developing a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy to aid the delivery of grassroots football.

They have devised a short survey to support developments.

Following the recent Big Grassroots Survey conducted by The FA - 65% of respondents knew a lot or quite a lot about what Cumberland FA offer its Key Stakeholders.

Enhancing media communications to increase that number further will assist with increasing the profile of the County FA. More importantly, it will also allow them to share the areas of support they can give those at grassroots level.

As part of the annual survey conducted during 2011 Cumberland FA asked volunteers, players and those involved in local football what the preferred method of communication was. From the results, they found that stakeholders would like information from Cumberland FA via the following methods (preferred option at the top):

  • E-newsletter
  • Website
  • Focus magazine
  • Text message
  • Facebook
  • Twitter

In response to the survey, they have developed an e-newsletter with the first edition sent out to recipients recently. They will be further developing this in 2012, with area specific information (i.e. Coaches, Welfare Officers, Girls and Women's Football, Club Development, Referees, Young Leaders) as well as Cumberland FA generic e-news.

The Cumberland FA website has also been a key focus area over the past season, promoting the opportunities for stakeholders within the county (e.g. coaching courses) as well as publicising events and programmes through regular news articles. Sometime in 2012, Cumberland FA will be launching an exciting new website as the home of their communication.

The new edition of the Focus Magazine is now available. This has become a bi-annual report sharing the success of The FA's National Game Strategy at grassroots level in Cumberland. This is also be available to download from the website.

In order to stay in touch with the ever changing landscape of social media, Cumberland FA are keen to develop Facebook and Twitter as key communication tools. With large numbers of people across the UK now using one of the major social networking sites, if not both, Cumberland FA wants to increase the opportunities for communication and both Facebook and Twitter are high on the list of priorities.

In order for them to see which methods of communication are best for you as stakeholders - They have developed a short survey to get the thoughts on this very important area of work.

Whether you are a coach, parent, volunteer, league official or player they would appreciate you taking the time to visit the link below.
