West Cumbria's brand new Football Academy

Lakes College will be the venue for West Cumbria's brand new Football Academy.The new level 2 and level 3 Football Performance Development courses provide a fantastic opportunity for Cumbria's brightest young football stars. Candidates will be given the chance to play regional football, train and work with local teams and achieve extra coaching qualifications, all whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

Lakes College have forged strong links with Workington Reds throughout the course's development and will use partners to provide the best all-round education and experience to help guide a carefully selected group of 16-19 year olds towards a career in professional football.

Darren Edmondson, Workington Reds Manager and Sport Lecturer at Lakes College said "There is a wealth of talent in West Cumbria that needs to be given a platform to perform and we want to be part of that."

16-19 year old players who show incredible promise on the pitch can get support towards qualifications and a career in football through this course.
