Organisation wanted to host Lord Taverners under 19s Boccia Programme in Cumbria for 2012/13

Active Cumbria in partnership with Boccia England and The Lord Taverners would like to invite expression of interests for local organisations in Cumbria to bid to deliver the Lord Taverners under 19s Boccia Programme in Cumbria for 2012/13.

Aims

The Lord Taverners under 19s Programme aims to develop a competitive structure with a player pathway. This structure will offer junior boccia players under the age of 19 with physical disabilities access to County, Regional and National Competitive opportunities.

In addition to this, the programme aims to offer a structure for young people through the sport of boccia officiating pathway from the Boccia Young Officials Course through to County, Regional and National officiating experiences.

Outcomes

One successful organisation will receive £400.00 programme funding to be the county host who will be tasked with the organisation and delivery of:-

1. A Boccia Young Officials Course within the host county. (The course tutor and resources will be provided by the Lord Taverners). This will involve:

Acting as County Host and organise a Boccia Young Officials Course for 14-19 year olds in their county
It will be expected that these young people will then officiate at the Lord`s Taverners county boccia competition to complete their Boccia Young Officials Award
Select 2 young officials from the county competition to attend the Lord`s Taverners Regional Boccia competition to increase their knowledge and gain experience of officiating at regional level.

2. A County Schools Boccia competition within the home county, for under 19s with a physical disability. (A winners trophy, medals for 1^st 2^nd and 3^rd teams and certificates for all will be supplied as well as tape for court marking by the Lord Tavereners). This will involve:

As county host undertake the organisation of The Lord`s Taverners county boccia competition which must take place between September and December 2011
Organise the winning county team (in some areas top 2 teams) and 2 selected Boccia Young Officials to attend The Lord`s Taverners Regional Boccia Competition.
The Lord`s Taverners Under 19s County School Team Boccia Competition organised by the County host must take place between September and December.
The following Monitoring Information will be collected and reported back to the Lord Taverners

A list of all participating schools and their contact details
Final positions of all teams
A list of officials deployed and contact details of the 2 Young Officials selected to officiate at the National Championships

The criteria for The Lord`s Taverners County, Regional and National Competitions is as follows:-

This a school team based competition
Each participant must be under 19 years of age as at midnight 31^st August/ 1^st September 2012
Each participant must have a physical disability. There is NO classification for this programme.
Each school team must be made up of 3 to 5 young people at least one of whom must be a wheel chair user.
The winning school team at The Lord`s Taverners county competition will qualify to attend the Lord`s Taverners Regional Boccia Competition (date and venue to be confirmed)
The winning school team at the Regional Competition will qualify to attend the Lord`s Taverners Under 19s National Boccia Championships March 2013
Two Boccia Young Officials may then be selected from the county competition to attend the Lord`s Taverners Regional Boccia competition to increase their knowledge and gain experience of officiating at regional level.This opportunity will be a closed bid process open to local authorities, educational establishments, leisure facility operators, clubs, commercial operators or any willing provider.

The successful bidder will be responsible for leading on the planning and delivery the programme itself so please include in your submission details of what you think you can contribute to the successful delivery of this event.
