This summer the Go-Lakes Travel programme is working in partnership with British Cycling to encourage people to dust off their bikes and get cycling.
The Sky Ride Local programme offers a series of free, fun guided bike rides in the Lake District. Kicking off in May and running through to the end of September, the rides are guided by friendly British Cycling Ride Leaders along scenic planned routes. They’re a great way to get out and explore the local area with family or friends. With different levels, there’s something for everyone – whether you’re building your confidence or already comfortable on a bike and looking for a challenge. Look out too for Breeze bike rides for women and children, and rides organised through Social Cycling Groups, British Cycling’s social network for cyclists.
Double Olympic Champion Jason Kenny, OBE said: ‘Cycling is a fantastic way to stay fit and healthy, plus its lots of fun too. I’d encourage everyone, of all ages and abilities to get out on their bikes and take part in a Sky Ride Local ride in the Lake District this summer’.
