11th October 2011
Cumberland FA's Girls Player Development Centre has been successful in achieving a licence for season 2011/12 from The FA.
The FA Player Development Centre is part of The FA's player pathway and bridges the gap between grassroots football and The FA Centre of Excellence programme.
If successful, girls will continue to play for their grassroots club and take part in additional training with the PDC (alongside their grassroots club training and match programme). The PDC will play fixtures against FA PDC's from Westmorland, Cheshire, Durham and Northumberland.
The age groups for the Player Development Centre for the forthcoming season are Under 11's, Under 13's, Under 15's and Under 17's.
Girls who aren't currently playing football outside school should not be disregarded; if girls do not currently play for a club, we can signpost them into a local FA Charter Standard Club following the Skills Day and trial process.
The Centre training will take place on Monday evenings at Newton Rigg Astro, Penrith.
New for this Year:
Cumberland FA will be offering two 'Girls Skills Days' during October half term (in Carlisle and Whitehaven). The Skills Day's are open to all girls aged from 8 - 13.
Girls attending the events will have the opportunity to attend a further trial for the PDC through invitation (at U11 and U13 only).
Additional trials will also be an opportunity for girls who are unable to attend the 'Girls Skills Days' and for girls at U15 and U17.
