Alison Nicholas joins golfers at Silecroft Golf Club in Cumbria and runs through a few practice drills with them.
GOLFERS in Cumbria took the opportunity to pick up tips from one of the great names in women's golf.
Solheim Cup captain Alison Nicholas visited Silecroft Golf Club for a special coaching session to encourage newcomers to the sport while also passing on her knowledge and experience to existing players.
She gave advice on both putting and the long game, before joining players for a Texas Scramble.
More than 30 golfers attended from clubs including Silecroft, Dunnerholme, Ulverston, Seascale and Carus Green.
Alison was one of Europe's most successful professionals during a playing career that spanned 24 years from 1980 to 2004, winning 18 titles.
She won the 1987 Weetabix Ladies British Open at St Mellion, while the highlight of her career came in 1997 when she was crowned US Open champion.
She was awarded the MBE for her services to women's golf, which includes representing Europe six times in the Solheim Cup matches against the United States and being on the winning side three times.
Said Jane Robinson, county development officer for the Cumbria County Golf Partnership: "This was a great opportunity to learn from one of the top names in women's golf. All those who attended thoroughly enjoyed the day and picked up some useful tips along the way."
The Cumbria County Golf Partnership is a collaboration of a number of stakeholders in the sport including the English Golf Union, The English Women's Golf Association, the PGA, the Golf Foundation and Sport England.
In Cumbria the partnership is supported by the Cumbria Ladies County Golf Association, the Cumbria Union of Golf Clubs, The Eden Valley Sports Partnership and the PGA North East/West.
