Allerdale Sports Awards

The 2016 celebration event will take place on the 21st October at The Wave Centre in Maryport with special guest - Jenny Meadows, a national and international athletics medallist.

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN

With the exception of the Special Award, all categories are for the achievements within the sporting seasons running through the year 2015/2016. Categories are:

Sports Person - Awarded to the person demonstrating the highest achievement within their chosen sport.

Junior Sports Person (Sponsored by Wright Sport Services) - Must be under 18 as at the 31st December 2016 Awarded to the person demonstrating the highest achievement within their chosen sport

Rising Stars (Sponsord by Grenwick Leisure Limited)

Coach of the Year 2015-16 (Sponsored by John Hoban Travel)

Volunteer of the Year 2015-16 (Sponsored by Allerdale Borough Council)

Performance award for a person with a disability (Sponsored by Proactive Physical Health) - Awarded to a person with a disability demonstrating the highest achievement within their sport

Young Leader (Sponsored by Lakes College) - Must be under 20 as at the 31st December 2016 Awarded to the young person that can demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities within sport during the last year

Team of the Year (Sponsored by Active Cumbria)  -  Awarded to the team demonstrating the highest achievement within their sport, two categories:

  • Senior Team of the Year 2015-16
  • Junior Team of the Year 2015-16

Special Award (Sponsored by D A Harrison) - 

This award can be for an individual, team or club who have done something special, different or inspirational that doesn't fit into any of the other categories. It could be recognizing a volunteer who has given a lifetime of support, a club who has opened it's doors to a new group or community or an individual who has made an outstanding achievement not receiving an award in another category. 

It is awarded at the discretion of the judging panel.

The evening celebration will take place on Friday 21st October 2016 at the Wave Centre, Maryport
