Volunteers Week 1-7 June 2022.
May 24, 2022
Volunteers’ Week 2022 is almost here!
A time to say thanks: Recognising the contribution of volunteers to the sport and physical activity communities around Cumbria
Volunteers’ Week takes place between 1-7 June every year and is a time to recognise and thank volunteers. During an exceptionally difficult year, people from all walks of life around Cumbria have taken the time to volunteer and made a huge difference to people and their communities – just as they do every year.
Active Cumbria are delighted to support Volunteers Week and would like to encourage you to take the time to recognise volunteers that helped during the last 12 months and to thank those who usually volunteer but have not been able to because of the pandemic.
We know that many of the sports and activities clubs and groups here in Cumbria are supported by a huge network of volunteers and we’d love you to join the campaign to say Thank You! From coaches, committee members and groundskeepers to marshals, fund raisers and more we want to thank each and every volunteer.
Every day from 1-7 June Active Cumbria will be sharing thankyou messages across our social media channels. Please join in the campaign and tag us into your social thank you posts throughout the week.

Monday 6th June is Power of Youth Day – an annual celebration of the contributions children and young people make to society through volunteering and social action. This year the focus will be on the incredible efforts that young people have made during the last year – a year impacted by a global pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. Please share your messages using #iwill
The coronavirus pandemic has rightly raised the profile of volunteering and more people than ever are aware of the immense contribution being made every single day by the UK’s volunteers. That is why, on this 38th annual #VolunteersWeek and during the #MonthofCommunity, it’s time to say: thank you volunteers.
