Shortlisted for a Golden Apple

August 16, 2019
We are delighted to have been nominated and shortlisted for this year’s Golden Apple awards - rewarding excellence in education and learning.
Our Healthy Movers programme has been shortlisted in the 'health and wellbeing' category for providing an innovative approach to encouraging a healthy lifestyle and influencing a healthier future for our communities.
Why Healthy Movers?
Babies and young children were born to move, they love being active and should be encouraged to move around freely and as often as possible!
Physical activity is essential during the early years of a child’s life as it helps them to not only develop physically but also helps them to develop their brains and social skills.
Unfortunately, across the UK only 9% of boys and 10% of girls achieve the UK’s Chief Medical Officers Guidelines for physical activity, which state that 0-5 year olds should aim to be active for at least 3 hours across every day.
The programme encourages young children and their families to become more physically active, have fun and learn to play!
