Our Commitment to Safeguarding

October 26, 2022

Active Cumbria have in the past month met the criteria for the Ann Craft Trust – Safeguarding Adults Framework. The framework is based on adult safeguarding legislation and current policy development in sport and physical activity. It supports robust procedures that should be in place regarding safeguarding adults. It also helps provide a way forward for supporting decision-making and rights for adults who may be at risk.

The Framework is endorsed by Sport England as it supports ‘Uniting the Movement’– the 10 year vision to transform lives and communities through sport and physical activity.

In addition, Active Cumbria have also met the criteria in an annual review with the NSPCC – Child Protection in Sport Unit. This is a process whereby the organisation is reviewed to check that safeguarding is embedded within practice, including updates to legislation, policies and procedures.

These positive steps demonstrate the willingness to continue to improve practice and the organisations commitment to safeguarding.  Visit the dedicated Safe in Sport pages of our website here.
