Active Cumbria and the Bread and Butter Theatre Company are on a mission to inspire the young people of Cumbria to become fit and active this Summer. Mr Stretch, PE Teacher extraordinaire, (otherwise known as Ulverston-based street theatre performer, Garry Gifford) will be travelling around Cumbria on his bike this June, bringing his unique blend of comedy, street theatre and audience participation to selected schools across the county.
Mr Stretch’s performance will be energetic, fun filled, providing lots of opportunities to get involved yet all centred around promoting the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle and the small steps you can take to make this happen.
The two week tour will begin on Monday 8th June in Whitehaven with Mr Stretch cycling a total of 250 miles before finishing on Thursday 18th June in Braithwaite visiting 22 schools along the way. He will be encouraging and inspiring everyone to make small changes to their diets and increase their activity levels whilst supporting him to achieve his own personal goal of tackling the great Honister Pass.
If you see Mr Stretch passing why not cheer him on or get on your bike and join him!
Mr Stretch’s tour will take him to the following locations;
• Whitehaven & Distington
• Workington & Maryport
• Penrith, Shap & Kendal
• Grange, Ulverston & Dalton
• Millom & Egremont
• Lorton & Braithwaite
