Cumbria Holiday Activity and Food Programme

The Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme is funded by the Department of Education (DfE).  In Cumbria, the programme is manged by Cumberland Council and Westmorland and Furness Council.

The programme provides fully funded activities and meals during the school holidays for eligible children and young people.  Research has shown that the school holidays can be pressure points for some families. The HAF programme is a response to this, with evidence showing that holiday clubs can have a positive impact on children and young people and that they work best when they provide:

  • physical activities
  • enriching activities
  • nutritious food

You can search a wide range of exciting activities running during the school holidays to find something that is right for your child.  Many include physical activities and games to help keep active in the holidays.

All the activities are free for children who receive benefits-related Free School Meals and other eligible children in particular circumstances, and they will also receive a lunchtime meal.

Some activities are available to all children, but there may be a cost - please check the details for each activity.
