Project outline: During lockdown, a lot of the children at the home were no longer accessing sports and social activities, and have found it difficult to begin reattending these, due to their existing social issues being exacerbated by the lack of social engagement they had during Covid19. Many express a desire to become more active/healthy but meeting new people or doing activities outside of their home where they feel safe and confident is an insurmountable task for them. Read More 

Inspira - Activate at Eden Youth Hub 

Funding received: £1898 (Phase 4: 1 April 2022 - 31 March 23)

Project outline: The service users of Penrith Youth Hub at Eden Rural Foyer are experiencing barriers to physical activity that are heavily revolved around confidence and anxiety, this makes them unable to face attending any public activity centres such as gyms as they find such environments very difficult. The service users struggle to communicate confidently with others and would be unable to access the correct people to provide guidance. Read More 

Lazonby Swimming Pool Boccia Project 

Funding Received: £1174 (Phase 4: 1 April 2022 - 31 March 2023)

Project outline: Lazonby Pool opened, in summer 2022, its new disabled wet room together with specialised equipment for people needing help accessing the pool.

The boccia sessions are designed to sustain and promote further physical activity, as well as social interaction, for people with additional health needs that started with using the Pool this summer and who wish to maintain the physical and social activity in some way during the winter months. Read More.
