Dignity in Dementia

Funding Received: £2,700 (Phase 1: 1 May 20 - 31 October 20)

Project Outline: Prior to the emergence of the Covid 19 pandemic Dignity in Dementia had begun to run weekly dementia friendly walks in the countryside around Kendal, Staveley, Ings and Milnthorpe. Read more here 

Wheels for All

Funding Received: £3,133 (Phase 2: 1 August 20 - 31 March 21)

Project Outline: The Wheels for All initiative supports children and adults with disabilities to engage in cycling activity through the use of adapted cycles supported by Wheels for All trained leaders. Read more here.

Headway South Cumbria 

Funding Received: £772.50 (Phase 3: 1 April 21 - 31 March 22)

Project Outline: Headway South Cumbria is a charity that supports families who have suffered the effects of a brain injury. The charity provides support across the South Cumbria area with groups operating in the Barrow and Kendal areas. Read more here 

Dignity in Dementia - Table Tennis Club

Funding Received: £2712.00 (Phase 4: 1 April 22 - 31 March 23)

Project Outline: Following on from the success of their Dementia Friendly Walking groups supported by the Tackling Inequalities Fund in 2020, members of the group expressed an interest in developing a social table tennis club.

Several members referred to how they played Table Tennis when they were younger and really enjoyed it. There was a desire to rekindle that youthful spirit and have a go again as many felt this would be a fun and supportive activity. Read more here

Ulverston Canoe Club - Engaging New Audiences 

Funding Received: £4740.00 (Phase 4: 1 April 22 - 31 March 23)

Project Outline: Ulverston Canoe Club is a small, volunteer led club and registered charity. Based in South Cumbria the club has ready access to the lakes, rivers, and coast, offering a wide variety of paddling and social opportunities.

The club were keen to reach new audiences and attract members by seeking to work more closely with a range of partner organisations within the local community. Read more here 

Activate South Lakes Housing - Tyson Square Residents

Funding Received: £800 (Phase 4: 1 April 22 - 31 March 23)

Project Outline: Following an 'Activate' taster sessions and a resident's consultation, the group decided they would like to have an instructor come to the communal space on a weekly basis to deliver an excercise and games session. Read more here.
