Cumbrian Schools encouraged to sign-up for The Tour

June 5, 2015

Schools in Cumbria are being encouraged to get involved in the Aviva The Tour of Britain.

Cumbria County Council and Active Cumbria are encouraging schools across Cumbria and the Lake District to sign-up to get involved when The Tour of Britain returns to the county this September.

Cumbria is delighted to be hosting two stages of the Aviva Tour of Britain this September. Day Three of the race (Tuesday 8 September) will start in Cockermouth before heading up the West Coast up to Silloth and over to Carlisle before crossing into Scotland and finishing in Kelso.

Day Five (Thursday 10 September) starts in Prudhoe, Northumberland and follows the path of Hadrian’s Wall before dropping down to the Eden Valley, over to Ullswater and finishing at Hartside.

It’s Cumbria’s first ever ‘double hit’ of the UK’s largest outdoor sporting event and a fantastic opportunity for schools along the route and right round the county to get involved and learn more about the event and cycling in general.

To get involved, schools are encouraged to register their interest for a 'Touch The Tour' pack. To find out more and to register, please click here
