Active Cumbria believes that sport and physical activity can have a huge positive impact on the lives of Children & Young People.
According to the guidelines from Government, Children from 5 to 18 years should engage in moderate to vigorous physical activity for an average of at least 60 minutes per day across the week. This can include all forms of activity such as physical education, active travel, after-school activities, play and sports.
We support a range of initative to help children incorporate this, details of which can be found below:
Our website is filled with lots of different resources.
We support the 251 Primary Schools, 21 Junior Schools and 37 Secondary Schools in Cumbria with their PE & School Sport helping to tackle the rising levels of obesity in Cumbria through whole school approaches.
We are committed to providing opportunities for young people to get involved in sport and physical activity, not only as participants but also as coaches, leaders and volunteers.
Every year we help organise a series of events for schools in collaboration with the Youth Sport Trust, your Local School Games Organiser and a range of sports providers. The County Level Festivals involve over 1000 children and 150 young volunteers.
