Run England Volunteer Awards - who should be honoured?

The Run England Volunteer Awards are part of the England Athletics Regional and National Awards 2013 and you have the opportunity to vote for somebody you think should be honoured!

Who is it who has helped you in your running? The volunteers who run our sport are very often the unsung heroes of the sport - who have given their time and effort to help the serious athlete, recreational runner or complete beginner on their way.

The England Athletics Regional and National Awards 2013 - of which the Run England Awards are part - are supported by Sweatshop, Athletics Weekly and the AAAs, and give us as a sport the opportunity to reward the contributions and commitment to our sport these people have shown over the past 12-month period. The Awards programme will begin with nine English Regional Awards. The three Run England categories are:

Run England Leader of the year

Awarded to an individual who has successfully activated new runners at a local level, engaging a broad range of participants in their community.

Run England Group of the year

Awarded to a community running group that has sought to activate new runners but also make a positive and demonstrable contribution to other local causes engaging such partners as charities, race providers, clubs, schools, colleges or workplace activity.

Run England Project of the year

This project is aimed at County Sport Partnerships, local club networks, schools, colleges, corporate bodies or local authorities and seeks to recognise their commitment and investment in growing new runners at a local level by applying the Run England model.

You can nominate someone for an Award until Wednesday 21 August 2013. By making a nomination in our 2013 Awards or voting in our 2013 Hall of Fame you will be eligible to enter into a prize draw with our national Affiliation sponsor Sweatshop where you could win £100 of Sweatshop vouchers.
