Rounders is an exciting batting and fielding game where the aim is to hit the ball and run round 4 bases to get a "rounder". Whether you can reach 1st Post or 4th Post, Rounders can give you, your friends and your family a fun sport to help keep you fit and healthy. It can be played by children and adults, and is currently the most popular sport for secondary school girls in Great Britain.
But Rounders is for everyone. Adult teams can be made up of friends, work colleagues, players from other sports looking for a summer game and young people who want to continue playing rounders after leaving school. The initial appeal is that rounders is fun to play, and doesn't involve buying a lot of very expensive equipment.
If so Active Cumbria (and Rounders England) want to hear from you.
Rounders England is keen to know who is interested in taking part in one of their coaching, leadership or umpiring courses. Details of the courses that they can offer can be found here. Please send your contact details to richard.metcalf@cumbria.gov.uk and Richard will feedback to Rounders England.
It is Rounders England's intention to use the information to increase the number of courses that they run across the country and that they are ran in areas where there is an obvious demand.
Games are played each Tuesday evening from May to mid July 6.30 - 8.30pm at St Bernard's School on Rating Lane, Barrow.
Each week there are over 150 women playing rounders in the league!
Some are still at school/college, some have recently left education, but most have taken up rounders again having not played since they left school. and for many that was a very long time ago!
For details on how to enter a team in the league or information on how to join an existing team, please contact Anne Atkinson on 07500979414 or see our website or e-mail
