The NW Regional Triathlon Academy supports the development of young and talented athletes within the North West of England. The North West region is broken into the following areas:
1. Cheshire
2. Merseyside
3. Lancashire
4. Greater Manchester
5. Cumbria
For each of these 5 areas there are coaching officers responsible for support and guidance of local athletes and the NW academy as a whole supports the NW children's winter and summer race series.
Our aims:
1. Identify talent by monitoring results at local events
2. Direct talent by establishing links with local swim/cycle/run/triathlon clubs
3. Provide support for talent via the system of coaching officers
4. Guide athletes towards BTF funded programme selection
5. Prepare the best possible team for Inter Regional Championships
6. Develop young athletes in a holistic manner to ensure their continuation within the sport of triathlon
How do youngsters access the academy?
1. Trial days take place in March and October and all local triathlon clubs will be contacted in advance
2. Those identified at local events within the North West will be contacted and invited to join the academy at their next training day
