NEW BURSARY LAUNCHED TODAY
Aiming Higher for Disabled Children and Young People in Cumbria
Transforming Short Breaks
This new bursary launched today is for groups who wish to apply for funding to help transform the short breaks programmes for young people - enabling more young severely disabled children and young people to access mainstream activities.
Aiming Higher for Disabled Children is the government strategy to transform services and improve outcomes for all children and young people with disabilities and their families.
The priority element of the strategy, as identified by parents, is Transforming Short Breaks. Through the transformation of ‘Short Breaks’ services, children and young people with severe disabilities and their families should be supported to live more normal lives.
Cumbria Children’s Trust's vision for Disabled Children, Young People and their Families was developed in partnership with parents/carers and providers: Our shared vision is that disabled children and young people will be able to access more of the places and activities they want, both specialist and universal.
They will know about all the opportunities that exist and will be supported to be as independent as possible.
