Cumbria County Council is celebrating great young volunteers across the county with the Cumbria Young Volunteer of the Year Award, held in partnership with Cumbria Youth Alliance (CYA), Cumbria Council for Voluntary Services (CVS) and vinvolved.
The award will recognise young volunteers who are making a difference by volunteering with organisations of all types and sizes, from a youth group to an environmental project or a local charity to name but a few.
Anyone can nominate a volunteer, or group of up to five volunteers, aged 16 to 25 who live in Cumbria.
The winners will get the outdoor adventure of their choice with Cumbria Outdoors. The organisation they volunteer with will also get a grant of £250. Whatever your nominee's physical ability there will be a great prize on offer for them.
The launch of the award ties in with national Volunteers' Week 2010, this week.
The closing date for nominations is Wednesday 1st September 2010. The winners will be announced in the autumn edition of Your Cumbria and in the Cumbria media.
To receive a nomination form, text your name and postal or email address to 07929 842 450; email youngvolunteer@cumbriacc.gov.uk; or go online to cumbria.gov.uk/youngvolunteer where you can also find more details about the awards and the rules of entry.
