Cumbria U13 Girls Hockey Team Win North Counties Final
The Cumbria U13 Girls Hockey Team had a fantastic day on Sunday winning the North Counties Hockey Finals in Halifax. They had qualified for the Finals by winning the NW Inter - Counties competition held over 2 days in Blackpool, competing against Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire South, Cheshire East and Cheshire West.
In their first game on Sunday against NE Runners-Up West Yorkshire they got off to a brilliant start scoring early on from a penalty corner attack. The Cumbria girls dominated the game with the end result a 3-0 win. They next went on to play the Runners-Up from the NW, Greater Manchester. This was a very close game resulting in a 0-0 draw. The final game of the tournament was against the NE Winners North Yorkshire. The girls realised that if they won this final game they would be crowned Northern champions. Again the Cumbrian team scored early on in the game and were able to maintain their lead throughout the rest of the game. This was to be the only goal of this game but was enough to seal the victory and the Northern Counties title.
Well done to the U13 Cumbria Girls Team!
