Get Qualified NW is entering its second and final year can reimburse up to £200 for a level 2 and £300 for a level 3 or equivalent sport, outdoor or fitness course. Get Qualified NW has recently supported Jon Williams to achieve his level 2 football coaching qualification. Jon runs the Advantage Sports Academy which is a new and vibrant Merseyside based company specialising in the delivery of high quality sports coaching and sports education courses. They currently coach football in primary schools during breakfast clubs, lunchtime and after school clubs as well as coaching pupils in pay and play coaching sessions on a Saturday morning and at school holiday coaching camps. The Academy are developing into offering secondary schools and colleges NVQ qualifications in football coaching, exercise, fitness and activity leadership and plan to offer schools and colleges an alternative provision package were pupils will be taught BTEC sport accompanied with key skills to give pupils the 5 A*-C GCSE equivalent.
Jon is from an education background having been a PE teacher and Head of PE for 13 years before setting up this company with a colleague. Achieving the level 2 has given Jon credibility for running coaching and NVQ courses as he only had the now void FA Preliminary badge previously. He found the course very enjoyable and informative and it has improved his knowledge and understanding of football, developing his experience and leading him on to the level 3 qualification which he is currently undertaking. The cost of such qualifications was a barrier for Jon as they can be expensive and the financial support from Get Qualified NW has been very helpful.
