Free Sports Qualifications on Offer this half-term in South Lakes

The South Lakes School Sports Partnership has developed an exciting opportunity for young people aged 14 - 19 years through links with KendalCollege and Lakes Leisure Kendal to get free sports qualifications.

Throughout October half term, 25th-29th, there are 5 free sports qualifications on offer based at either Kendal College or Lakes Leisure.  The qualifications on offer are:

• Young Netball Organisers Course - delivered through England Netball.  
• Safeguarding & Protecting Children - Sports Coach UK Course.
• Coaching Children and Young People - Sports Coach UK Course.
• The Tri-Golf Activators Course - overseen by the Golf Foundation
• England Hockey Board Leadership Award
  

Any young person that accesses these courses must do some voluntary work within their own school; this could be assisting with an afterschool club or with a festival.  All people who attend these courses will form part of the South Lakes Leadership Academy, where ongoing training will be provided throughout the year.  As part of the final event linked to this programme each young person will get the opportunity to take part in one of the countys biggest mass sporting events, the Cumbria SCHOOLympics.
