Jack, Calum and Robbie Hudson are 3 brothers and outdoor swimmers from Langwathby.
On August 15th all 3 of them are swimming all 90 miles of the River Eden.
They will be doing 10 miles a day 9 days in a row, camping along the way. From its source in Hellgill to its mouth in the Solway Firth, they'll share the river with otters, kingfishers, herons and crayfish, swimming their way into the record books.
And your welcome to come and join them for a stretch, as short or far as you can manage.
All three of the boys grew up with the River Eden flowing past the bottom of their garden. They recently sold their family home and have all moved away from the area (Calum London, Robbie Berlin and Jack Newcastle), the swim is a chance for them to reconnect with their childhood and their brotherhood as well as give back to the local community where they grew up.
They want to activiely encourage and inspire local children to get out there and enjoy the natural world and protect it >>More
Bruce Lawson, Senior Manager (Development) Active Cumbria
‘It’s great to see how passionate and inspirationally these young men are about promoting this very therapeutic physical activity. What could be better than being with nature and swimming in Cumbria. I wish them all the very best of good luck and success. Clearly, Active Cumbria would always advocate that anyone considering open water / wild swimming has the appropriate skills needed to enable them to self-rescue should the situation ever arise.’
