Play Bowls in Cumbria this Spring

April 1, 2015

Active Cumbria, The Sport and Physical Activity Partnership for the county is delivering an extensive project during 2015 to increase the number of people playing bowls across Cumbria and there are some exciting bowls opportunities taking place during April and May.

There will be Play Bowls Days taking place around the county, these are informal open days designed for people who are interested in taking up bowls but would like to find out more.  You will be able to come along, try out the sport and meet other bowlers from the club.

Once you’ve attended the open day, you may sign up to the Play Bowls 4 Fun programme, this offers you learning on how to play the sport at a weekly session of 2 hours, every week for 4 weeks.  It costs just £5 to reserve a place, this is redeemable against the cost of a first year’s club membership should you wish to join the club at the end of 4 weeks.

Becky Underwood, Development Officer at Active Cumbria said:

“Cumbrian Bowling Clubs are amazing places, each one is different and offers something unique, but one thing they all have in common is a warm welcome to people who might like to learn the game, or just come along to see what is there.  The Play Bowls 4 Fun programme is an ideal way to learn the game with a qualified professional and Spring is a great time to get outdoors.”
