As part of the women’s football offer for Season 2014-2015, the small sided format offers players the opportunity to ‘turn up and play’, in a fun, friendly, no pressure, social environment.
Recent consultation and player surveys informed us that the female player of today prefers flexible playing opportunities; not just the traditional game. In order to retain players and engage more women into the sport it is important to offer football on their terms, fitting in and around their lifestyles, as and when best suits them.
Jess Lawson, Football Development Officer said: ‘Wednesday was a great night; not only because of the fantastic football on display, but having the opportunity to speak and the players and discuss women’s football, was invaluable.’
The programme prides itself on focussing on the social aspects of football, allowing female sides to come together, have fun and enjoy their football. Incentives for winning teams, such as Nandos Vouchers were a big hit last week, and a fun way of recognising success.
The positive response from last week has helped Cumberland FA organise the next event as follows:
Date: Thursday 6th November 2014
Venue: Austin Friars School, Etterby Scaur, Carlisle, Cumbria, CA3 9PB (Astro)
Time: 7.00pm – 9.00pm
All women’s teams in Cumberland playing either local or regional football are welcome to attend this event, and we also welcome individuals interested in giving football a go and enjoying a kick about.
