More local sports fields across the country are to be safeguarded and improved after the Protecting Playing Fields legacy fund received 50 per cent boost in investment.
With 75 projects benefiting from £3.5 million of investment in the latest round of funding, the £5 million increase is responding to the huge demand for the programme from sports clubs and other local groups.
“The popularity of this legacy fund shows just how important good local playing fields are to grassroots sport,” said Nick Bitel, Sport England Chair. “I’m delighted that even more communities will now benefit thanks to this extra Lottery funding.
Over the four rounds, 238 projects have benefitted from a total of £11.3 million of investment, with 721 pitches and 2,600 acres protected and improved for at least 25 years. Dozens more organisations will be able to bid for investment when the next round of funding opens on 10 June. For More information Click Here
