We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to one of our open days/evenings at Lakes Leisure Windermere outdoor centre. We are a small outdoor centre offering after school clubs, courses, one off sessions and weekend courses for children and adults. 

You will be aware of Lakes Leisure through its Kendal and Ulverston centres and the community development teams work, but may be less aware of the opportunities at our Outdoor Centre on Windermere.  We can offer from a one-off short session through to multi-day programmes and regular after school clubs.  Our staff can even exploit the potential of your school site to deliver activities such as orienteering and problem solving.

We offer kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, orienteering, team building, climbing and ghyll scrambling.  These activities can contribute towards personal and social development. In addition to gaining a skill for life we are able to offer various certificates and awards in line with our governing bodies.

We are keen to encourage regular participation in outdoor activities by young people as we see the benefits every day.  As well as contributing to physical fitness being active in the natural environment can lead to improved confidence, develop problem solving skills and a sense of responsibility.  Teachers often report participating pupils are calmer and more focused in other areas of their learning.  Important not to forget that our activities are also fun!  We also challenge you to find a curriculum area which cannot be contributed to in some way to learning out of doors!

Our prices start from £32 per hour for a group of 8.  All equipment is included. At the open day/evening we can provide you with all the information you will need to plan your activities along with tea, coffee and cakes!  We will also be giving you and accompanying colleagues a 10% off voucher to use against any taster session for yourself.  You will be able to have a look around the centre at your leisure, ask staff questions and have a look at the equipment we use.  Risk assessments, licensing certificates and centre approval information will be on hand to look at.

Our open evenings are on the following dates: 

• Tuesday 29th March - 2pm -5.30pm
• Thursday 31st March - 2pm -5.30pm
• Tuesday 3rd May - 2pm -5.30pm
• Thursday 5th May - 2pm -5.30pm
