Inspired by Rio? Go for Gold in the Workplace Challenge

August 22, 2016

If you’re anything like us, it didn’t take long for you to become completely captivated once again by the Olympic Games.

Even before the Opening Ceremony in Rio was complete, memories of Linford Christie (Barcelona), Sir Steve Redgrave (take your pick), and of course Jess Ennis (London) came flooding back. There’s something about the Olympic and Paralympic Games that inspires us to get off our seats and get active.

Next month our ‘Shake Up September’ initiative returns for a second year. The aim is to help people like you to bring physical activity into the workplace, by giving you the opportunity and encouragement to try out as many Olympic or Paralympic sports as possible.

Ever fancied fencing? Game for goalball? Or dreamt of being a decathlete? Now is your chance to get involved, as we will be showcasing a different Olympic or Paralympic sport on Twitter and Facebook throughout September, showing how you can get away from the desk or off the factory floor.

We’ve even created a Shake Up September bingo card, featuring 30 sports that you could try in September. The more you try, the higher you can get on our national leaderboard. Or compete against your colleagues and go for gold in a race to complete a line on your bingo card, you can even win cool goodies from our friends at Cotswold Outdoors.

Let’s get inspired by our Team GB stars and Shake Up September. Participating in sport with your colleagues will help you to get active, improve communication and boost team morale – and you don’t have to travel to Brazil to do it (although we admit that would be nice!)

It’s as easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Sign up to Workplace Challenge
  2. Download your Shake Up September bingo card from September 1st
  3. Get active, log your activity via the website or app and encourage others to join in
