Four Cumbrian clubs were presented with their prestigious Clubmark Gold certificates at the recent World Club Challenge match between Wigan Warriors and St George Dragons.
West Cumbria Under 18's, Millom RLFC and Kells RFLC joined the first Eden based rugby league club to be accredited in Penrith Pumas.
The clubs have worked hard over the last 6 months to earn accreditation and can now boast that their levels of safeguarding and protecting children, qualified coaches and infrastructures are in line with Sports England's requirements for all sporting clubs.
The clubs were unanimous in saying, "To be presented on an international stage certainly recognises and rewards the hours and hours of voluntary work that is put in to running and supporting a club"
Regional Development Manager, Anthony Atherton added, "Cumbrian Rugby League is really pushing it's standards up! Over the last 12 months we have seen no few than 9 clubs accredited which is a huge testament to the committees and volunteers that do so much to ensure club's sustainability!"
