Go Spike Big Weekend

March 25, 2013

One weekend in May. One golden opportunity to showcase why volleyball is the best team sport to play this summer!

On the bank holiday weekend of May 25-27th 2013 Go Spike will encourage the nation to get involved in volleyball and head down to their local club or facility to give volleyball a go!

The aim of the Go Spike Big weekend is for community volleyball clubs, beach facilities, university clubs and other volleyball providers across England to hold an event or activity at their local venue and get as many people as possible to join in. Whether it be indoors, sitting, on grass, on sand or even in the water, we want to promote volleyball in all its forms and demonstrate just how fun and sociable it can be to play.

This is a great opportunity for clubs and volleyball facility providers to attract local people and to sign up more members, supporters and volunteers who may never have thought about playing volleyball before.

Lisa Wainwright, Chief Executive at Volleyball England commented: "This weekend is a chance for everyone in the volleyball community to link together and create the biggest weekend of volleyball this country has ever seen. We want to showcase how fun and sociable volleyball is and get as many people playing as possible. It will also be an opportunity to promote where people can continue to play throughout the summer."

More information on how to create an event and a list of confirmed events will be available to view via the Go Spike website.
