WOULD-BE golfers in Cumbria have the ideal chance to give the sport a go - for the bargain price of a tenner!
Four clubs have signed up to deliver a special coaching course for beginners during May. The four weeks of top advice from PGA professionals is open to both male and females aged 16 and over and costs just £10 per person.
Sessions are being delivered at Penrith Driving Range, Cumbria Golf Centre (based at Whitehaven GC), Carlisle DR and Furness DR starting during the first week of May.
Says Jane Robinson, county development officer for the Cumbria County Golf Partnership: "This is as great opportunity for anyone who has thought about taking up golf to give the sport a go without having to spend a lot of money doing so.
"The coaching will be designed to help newcomers get to grip with the basics of the sport, which will give a great platform to take part in further coaching in the future, to get out on the course and perhaps even enjoy the benefits of becoming a golf club member."
Anyone interested is asked to contact the club they wish to attend directly. All equipment is provided.
