An important part of Sport England's Youth and Community Strategy (2012-17), which seeks to create a sporting habit for life, is pilot funding to support how sport can best contribute to improving health and at the same time grow weekly sports participation.
Aligned to our aspiration of getting more people participating in sport once a week we’ve focused this work on those who are the least active as this is where we can make a significant contribution to reducing health inequalities and produce the greatest potential health benefit.
Funding will be distributed via one round with £5m available from this year. National Lottery awards between £30,001 and £500,000 will be considered for this fund.
Expressions of Interest to the fund are being sought from appropriate partners. We will work with these partners to develop the project before soliciting grant applications which will be presented to an assessment panel for consideration.
