£2,500 Coaching Bursaries – apply now
Want to get more people active and involved with your organisation? A third of all those who don’t take part in sport say that a coach would encourage them to start. Coaches can also help inspire people to get and to stay active. The Angling Trust is providing 20 special "Coaching Bursary" awards of £2,500 each to clubs, local authorities, schools, fisheries and similar organisations to fund the cost of training coaches and the resources they use at coached sessions. The awards aim to encourage more women, disabled and young people to become angling coaches, and will enable more people to be active in the outdoors, and boost participation numbers at local facilities.

Going fishing is a fantastic way for people who might not normally consider sport to take part in physical activity. It can be particularly useful in the treatment of physical and mental illness, rehabilitation from injury, or as a way of learning about the environment. These awards are part of our Angling Improvement Fund which re-invests Environment Agency rod licence income into diverse projects directly benefiting anglers. The application process is simple with guidance available on how to prepare the best possible bid.
