On Tuesday 20 November 2012 Cumberland FA and Carlisle United FITC delivered the first School Pan-Disability Football event of the year at Netherhall School, Maryport.
12 teams entered the event at both Under 13 and Under 16 level, playing in a friendly 4v4 festival format with fun the main goal of the day.
Approximately 65 players attended the festival along with 3 keen volunteers from Lakes College to help referee matches.
Boys and Girls from Stainburn School, Mayfield School, Netherhall School, Trinity School, William Howard School and St Benedict’s School got plenty of playing time throughout the event.
Disability Football Development Officer Jess Lawson say; ‘It was great to finally meet all the staff and players from schools right across the county, seeing them play and enjoying their football was massively rewarding.’
Jess goes on to say; ‘A big thank you to the Allerdale School Sports Partnership for supporting the event and to all the schools and staff for their continuous support in disability football. We are looking forward to our next event in February 2013 at the Sands Centre, Carlisle and our spring event in April 2013.’
